Webtex combat survival kit review

Webtex combat survival kit review

Supplier:

The item was supplied directly from the UK supplier of all Webtex, Jack Pyke, Viper and other products. There customer service is fantastic and did everything they promised they would, usually they would respond within 1 hour of my emails and were very polite. They even phone me to discuss my requests more so they didn’t get anything wrong.

Packaging:

Item was packed into a larger box with the three other items I ordered. The final space was packed out with packaging to avoid movement and damage during transit.

Postage:

Item was shipped via DHL express and arrived lunchtime the following day. The box was in good condition and no damage.

1st Impressions:

The case is reasonable in size and would easily fit into any utility pouch or side pouch on a rucksack. The contents of the kit are good for the size of the case. All in all, this looks to be a nice useful piece of kit.

Contents:

The contents of the kit are as follows:

  • Snap Knife
  • Fire starter firesteel
  • Combat Wire saw
  • Sewing kit
  • Candle
  • Compass
  • Fishing kit
  • Matches
  • Emergency whistle
  • Water Purification tables x10
  • Signalling mirror
  • Pencil
  • Snare wire
  • Cotton wool
  • Accident report
  • Survival instructions

Usability:

Out in the field the use of this kit is excellent. It’s very handy and can be used for cutting and preparing fire wood, to lighting a fire so you can cook food, boil and sterilise water and keep animals and insects away. The kit also enables you to catch your own food if needed, combine this with a first aid kit and you won’t really need any other items in emergency. I would advise to keep this in a waterproof case of bag just in case your cotton wool or instructions get wet.

The firesteel you just strike against a rock and it sparks. If you combine it with the cotton wool it should start a fire easily (this is only if your matches are used up or wet) Instructions for making fires and other activities are included in the instructions.

The wire saw cuts really well as long as you keep the wire straight, if you try to bend it too much around a branch it seems to jam. But a quick removal, it’s cutting again. Just be aware makes your arms ache loads.

Conclusion:

Excellent kit, I wish I had gotten one of these earlier. I think if you’re intending to do weekend games or mil-sim events then this is a 100% certain item to take with you. Even hiking and camping holidays I would take this with me because you never know when you will need one the items in it.

Ratings:
